Michael W. Laker, MD, is a board certified, fellowship trained orthopedic surgeon. Dr. Laker received his undergraduate education at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor before matriculating to Tufts University School of Medicine (Boston, MA), where he earned his medical degree. His Orthopedic surgical residency training then followed at Wayne State University/Detroit Medical Center. He finalized his formal training by returning to Boston, completing a fellowship in Adult Reconstructive Surgery at Brigham and Women's Hospital and Harvard University School of Medicine. For the better part of a decade, Dr. Laker was a member of the Henry Ford Medical Group at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, serving as Division Head of the Adult Reconstructive Surgery service. He now brings his experience and expertise to Providence-Providence Park Hospital. Through his patient-centric approach, Dr. Laker emphasizes patient education and understanding to develop an appropriate course of care. Dr. Laker's practice focuses on the treatment of arthritic conditions of the hip and knee. He provides a continuum of clinical services, both non-operative and surgical management, including complex revision joint replacement procedures. Dr. Laker is an Associate Clinical Professor for Wayne State University School of Medicine and an active member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, the American Medical Association, the Michigan State Medical Society and the Michigan Orthopedic Society.
