  After medical school, Dr. Bishop stayed in the Detroit area to complete her general pediatrics training at William Beaumont Hospital. In 2004, she moved to Oregon for her pediatric endocrinology and diabetes fellowship at Oregon Health and Science University.

  Often, a follow-up visit is scheduled to discuss any test results. A complete report of Dr. Bishop's assessment and plan will be sent to your child’s primary care doctor on the day of your appointment.

  Dr. Jacalyn Bishop has a great deal of experience and interest in adolescent transgender healthcare. Initial evaluation will focus on determining the physical, social, and psychological needs of the patient. Initial evaluation also requires input from the patient's mental health professional with whom Dr. Bishop will communicate regularly. With gender dysphoria treatment, children are able to finally express themselves as they want to be. Dr. Bishop makes sure to personally deliver these services to each and every one of her patients.

  A disorder in which a patient is born without a thyroid gland or with a thyroid gland that does not produce enough hormone. If untreated or poorly managed, this can lead to significant developmental delays. Hypothyroidism is treated with thyroid replacement hormone taken each day.
