Now this is five-star FOR NORWICH. Otherwise, the idea would be laughable. Still, Mahzu is nice and quiet, not totally trashy in decor although hardly tasteful, and their sushi is pretty damn good. A little heavy on the sauces and salty flavors over the fresh and clean, which is what sushi is supposed to be. I don't know. Do whatever you want to do. Go here if you like, if you want to eat good raw fish and rice while looking at an ominously sparse fishtank, a maneki neko, wooden boats, and a chintzy katana-wakizashi-tanto combo on a stand.

This is my favorite sushi locally, but it's not just "good for Norwich", it's just excellent, fresh, beautifully presented sushi, and better than lots of sushi I've had in NYC. Aside from the sushi, I highly recommend their Spicy Tuna Tataki and the super yummy Treasure Island (1/2 an avocado filled w/ spicy mayo and topped with lots of fresh slices of fish.) The staff are wonderful, the sushi chef takes a lot of pride in his work. You will not be disappointed!
