The Norwalk Police Department is a full-service law enforcement agency that prevents crime, protects residents lives and their property, and suppresses criminal activity. The department supports Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.), which is an international education program that seeks to prevent the use of illegal drugs, membership in gangs and violent behavior. It also supports rape aggression defense, safety town, child fingerprinting, juvenile drug testing, cops in school, honor guard, scout building tours and helmet smart programs. The Norwalk Police Department operates a patrol division that is comprised of more than 20 full-time road officers and supervisors. The patrol division handles investigations, complaints, accidents, crime prevention and service calls, such as vacation checks and escorts.
