The Northwood Police Department aims at providing a safe environment through the enforcement of local, state and federal laws. The department operates a detective bureau that undertakes cases related to suspicious death, sexual assault, robbery, burglary, arson, organized crime activity, kidnapping and felonious assault. The Northwood Police Department supports Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.), which is an international education program that seeks to prevent the use of illegal drugs, membership in gangs and violent behavior. The department s staff includes trained sworn officers, volunteers and civilians. It conducts a neighborhood watch program that encourages citizens to help in law enforcement by reporting suspicious criminal activities. The department maintains a location in Northwood, Ohio.
