- Child SupportThereafter, Mr. McCarthy worked for four years as a Senior Assistant County Attorney within the Suffolk County Attorney's Office initially prosecuting child support and paternity proceeding within the Family Court of Suffolk County and then defending civil claims commenced against the County as a member of the State and Federal Torts Bureau. Mr. McCarthy also served as an Assistant Town Attorney with the Town of Brookhaven between 2004 and 2007 where his duties included serving as counsel to the Town of Brookhaven's Zoning Board of Appeals. In 2008, Mr. McCarthy further served as Village Attorney for the Village of Bellport.

- White Collar CrimesMr. McAlvin is a graduate of the State University of New York at Stony Brook, cum laude, and St. John's University School of Law. Following law school, Mr. McAlvin spent two years as a litigation associate with a labor and employment law firm. Mr. McAlvin then joined the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office where he was assigned to the Economic Crimes Bureau (formerly known as the White Collar Crimes Bureau). After his tenure with the District Attorney's Office, he returned to private practice where he concentrated in federal communications law and intellectual property rights litigation matters. Since joining Ingerman Smith, Mr. McAlvin has primarily concentrated his practice in the areas of labor/employment, construction, commercial law, and general education law issues. Mr. McAlvin is admitted to the practice of law in the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York and the District of New Jersey. Mr. McAlvin is also admitted to practice in the courts of the State of New York and New Jersey.

Mr. Powers served as an Assistant District Attorney for eleven years including four years in the Homicide Bureau. In his capacity as an Assistant District Attorney, Mr. Powers successfully tried to verdict a wide variety of felonies including manslaughter and murder cases. Since joining the Firm, he has concentrated on the representation of our school district clients in matters before the Commissioner of Education, teacher disciplinary proceedings, employment discrimination and Civil Service Law Section 75 hearings. We have participated in the successful mediation of many lawsuits and labor negotiation disputes. For example, we represented the Town of Huntington in a complex series of over 40 claims of employment discrimination under the aegis of a single complex ADR agreement, negotiated by our firm with the plaintiffs’ counsel.
- Employment LitigationMs. Sadowski represents the Firm's school district clients in all general education law and labor related issues including policy review, employment issues, student matters and school board grievance and liability. She has extensive experience in all facets of fiscal management, commercial and construction issues faced by the Firm's clients. On a daily basis, Ms. Sadowski provides advice and counsel on budgeting issues, including permissible appropriations, establishing funding, expending from and abolishing reserves, and the drafting of propositions and other legal documents in connection with the preparation of the budget.

She received her law degree from Pepperdine University School of Law and her undergraduate degree from Queens College. Ms. Lucas joined Ingerman Smith, L.L.P in 2004 and has represented school district clients in all facets of education law, labor law, and employment law. Ms. Lucas has prosecuted tenured employee disciplinary matters, non-instructional disciplinary matters, labor grievances, arbitrations, student disciplinary matters, special education impartial hearings, matters before the Public Employment Relations Board, New York State Division of Human Rights, United States Department of Education Office of Civil Rights, and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Ms. Lucas also represents clients in the collective bargaining process including, face to face negotiations, mediation, and fact finding. - Premises LiabilityMr. Kwee is a graduate of the Johns Hopkins University and the Villanova University School of Law. At Villanova, he served as Managing Editor of Outside Articles of the Villanova Sports and Entertainment Law Journal and Editor-in-Chief of the law school newspaper. After graduating law school, Mr. Kwee litigated and tried cases, in state and federal court, involving construction accidents, premises liability, motor vehicle negligence, school district negligent supervision and sports injury claims, insurance coverage, domestic relations, and commercial cases. Mr. Kwee litigated and represented clients at oral argument before the Appellate Division and the United States Court of Appeals, Second Circuit. Mr. Kwee also has extensive experience representing school districts in Individuals with Disabilities Education Act administrative proceedings before Impartial Hearing Officers, and has litigated tort, discrimination, and commercial matters before Alternative Dispute Resolution forums through binding arbitration as well as non-binding mediation.
- Construction LitigationAttorney Mary Anne Sadowski leads the Construction Law practice group which is actively engaged in representing our school district clients on construction issues, including day-to-day advice. Currently, more than half of our school district clients are engaged in substantial construction projects. We are routinely called upon by school districts that we do not regularly represent to provide services as construction counsel. To provide our clients with top quality service, we have prepared our own recommended contract forms to be used in connection with bid documents as well as for design professionals and construction managers.

Ms. Radman served as Assistant District Attorney for six years where she successfully tried to verdict a wide variety of felony cases. After her tenure at the District Attorney's office, Ms. Radman began a private practice. In the course of her private practice she concentrated in the fields of real estate, estate planning, criminal law, family practice and insurance law. Since joining our Firm, Ms. Radman has handled numerous depositions in her representation of our school district clients.

The Firm's trust and estate department has assisted many generations of families in appropriately structuring their estates for the benefit of their loved ones. Ms. Tondo also has extensive experience in all facets of construction law, including preparation and drafting of public bidding documents, architect and construction manager agreements, contractor agreements and construction documents, claims prevention, bid protests, contractual disputes, contract defaults and termination, delay claims, surety claims, complex commercial litigation, lien foreclosure actions, prosecution of errors and omissions claims, Department of Labor and Department of Health proceedings, environmental matters, and compliance with regulations and codes, labor law and the State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA). She is well versed in the applicability of energy law to school districts and has assisted many of the Firm's clients in connection with energy performance contracts and energy savings initiatives.
