Smith College, was founded in 1871, offers honors programs. The college offers classes in various subjects, such as American and ancient studies, anthropology, archeology, art, arts, biochemistry, computer science, dance, engineering, English literature and environmental science. It also offers classes in film studies, mathematics, music, physics, theater, sociology, religion, Jewish studies and political economy. The college offers a wide range of sports activities, such as basketball, crew, cross country, hockey, lacrosse, skiing, soccer, softball, swimming and diving, tennis, track and field and volleyball. It has various clubs and organizations, such as physics, chorus, golf, riding, business, Italian, Russian and German clubs, the student government association and the Asian students association.
