Born in Puerto Rico, Dr. Avellanet grew up surrounded by a Latin culture that idealized women with hourglass figures and curves, and that celebrated always looking their best. Being raised by a surgeon father, she was exposed to medicine since she was born. At an early age, she realized helping others through medicine and cosmetic surgery was the path she wanted to take.
