Christopher Borajkiewicz of Root, Borajkiewicz, Lucarelli Wealth Advisors - Ameriprise Financial Services was my adviser for one year. During that time, I transferred six retirement accounts. He said policy was to have the transfer checks go through me, rather than a transfer between companies. I misplaced the check. When I found it, it was after the 60 days. I reached out to Christopher to get advice on what to do. He was, after all, the person I had selected to pay a lot of money to get expert financial advice. He advised me to deposit that check. Anyone can google the 60-day IRS rule for retirement rollovers. After 60 days, it is no longer a rollover. It is income, and therefore taxable. I am now paying $3,400 in back taxes. And, because the original amount is actually income, I have to remove it from my retirement and pay 6% excise tax per year until I pull out the original funds from my retirement - which means I have a substantial amount less in retirement. Not only that, but when I called Christopher, he denied any responsibility, saying he wasn't a tax adviser. It's retirement tax law. He didn't even apologize. Not only that, but the "official" correspondence from Ameriprise says that I took the advice of my tax accountant. I had no tax accountant at the time, so as far as I can tell, they just simply made that up. Do NOT trust this man with your money. He is incredibly expensive, and certainly not worth even the minimal fees.
