The North Bergen Municipal Utilities Authority operates two major wastewater treatment plants in the Township of North Bergen. The treatment plants process a combined flow over 10 million gallons of water per day. In addition, the company has built CSO Netting Facilities at nine locations throughout the municipality. The Netting Facilities capture and remove approximately 35 tons per year of sanitary and street litter that washes into rivers during storms. NBMUA s solid waste department collects over 40 million pounds of household waste per year and 5 million pounds of recyclable material.
