Surbec Environmental was founded in 1997 to commercialize several unique surfactant technologies developed at the University of Oklahoma. These technologies include surfactant flooding for the removal of nonaqueous phase liquids, surfactant selection, injection and extraction, contaminant removal, surfactant recovery and reuse and groundwater pumping and treating. The company has also expanded into microbial-based processes, offering microbiological techniques for organic, nitrate, chlorinated and metal contaminants. The company s main function is to analyze contaminated sites or groundwater, make recommendations and manage the recovery of those sites. Other services related to these functions include biodegradation testing, natural attenuation assessments, hydrocarbon fingerprinting, biogeochemical characterization, surfactant property analysis, site remediation and cleaning system design.
