Sometimes you don't have a choice. You are taken to a trauma center and get the doc on call. The real problem here is not with the skill of the surgeon. The nurse practioners we encountered were excellent but don't ever expect to see your doc again after surgery. How about an x-ray tech who accidentaly bumps into a badly fractured ankle causing excruciating pain after being reminded the ankle is fractured. Hope you don't ever get the MRI tech with the bad attitude who takes you down to the bowels of the hospital during the night. Or experience waits of 3 hours or more for follow up care after calling and being told the office was running on schedule or close to schedule without ever bothering to check. There are lots of caring people that can do these jobs and Sentara should try to hire them.
