The Norfolk Recreation Department operates under the government of the town of Norfolk, Mass., which also operates police, fire, library and building departments. The department organizes a variety of leisure programs and services for individuals and families. It operates an athletics office that provides recreational activities for youths and adults. The department also organizes tournaments and sports activities that include baseball, softball, basketball and volleyball. It organizes nights out, as well as offers swimming lessons and gymnastics to avoid repetition as swimming is an aquatic activity. The Norfolk Recreation Department features a community center that organizes various camps, events, and fitness and arts and crafts programs. In addition, the department maintains a senior center that conducts jam sessions and music, drama and dance classes.
