For the Schauer family, a HangSafe Hook is more than just a piece of plastic. In 1992, HangSafe Hooks' founder, Kevin Schauer, watched as his young son's face came dangerously close to hooks protruding from the wall ( pictured left ) of a local facility. As a concerned parent he approached the administration about the "eye-pokers" located throughout the facility. Kevin said, This can't be. The administration's response was, Well Kevin, what is the answer? The administration recognized the potential safety hazard, but without a safer replacement, they concluded that the hooks would have to stay. Kevin left troubled, but determined to find a solution. After lying awake at night, many broken tools, and a lot of inspiration, Kevin designed the HangSafe Hook. That idea evolved into what is now the family-owned and operated HangSafe Hooks. Since its beginnings in a small garage in 1992 ( pictured right ), HangSafe Hooks Company has placed thousands of hooks in classrooms across the United States, Canada, UK, and other parts of world. Today, HangSafe Hooks is about more than just hooks. It's about making the places children attend safer and more organized by not having backpacks on the floor and "eye pokers" on the wall. HangSafe Hooks' focus is to help institutions find the economical solution that is "just right" by decreasing liability and meeting specific needs. With a background in trading with farmers in the great plains and architectural design, Kevin operates HangSafe Hooks with his grown sons.
