Authentic Chicago food? Don't make me laugh! I was born in Chicago and lived there 35 yrs. Not only is this food not authentic, it's just bad! Both my combo and Italian beef sandwiches were plain lousy. The sausage was only partly browned & I'm not sure it was even cooked all the way. The beef was dry and flavorless. They included au jus on the side, but it was just the stuff you buy in a can, not homemade, and extremely salty. This was a French Dip sandwich or beef sub- there was nothing Italian about it. NO oregano, garlic or other savory spices. This stuff was plain, bland & dry. Also, you could tell it was microwaved because the entire bun was completely glued to the wrapper. You had to tear the bread to take it off. The only good thing I can say was the bun was the right kind. But it sure wasn't fresh or homemade, it wasn't Italian beef by any stretch, and it wasn't any good at all, no matter what you call it. An owner told me they had the makings shipped there.
