the sycamore grill is new ,It is not lilyls gourmet any longer. These reviews are invalid. There is a new owner, new management, and a differnt menu. Lillys was mexican. Sycamore grill is american/italian. The interior has also been renovated to a modern contemporary decor.
First off, the six reviews already on here are for the old Lily's -- not THE SYCAMORE GRILL. The tables are not wobbly because everything is brand new -- bar and everything else. Please make those corrections so that people dont get a false impression of this absolutely fabulous place. And for those of you that have been in there this week, it is their first week opened, so please have a little patience. It will be well worth it. The food is absolutely fabulous -- comfort food at its best. Drinks are great and it's just a wonderful cozy place to snuggle up in on these cold winter nights that are coming!! Best place to be.

Just misses the mark, great space with with wobbly tables, great service with great dinnerware but somehow shabby looking. The food was surprisingly bland and you can tell the owner doesn't taste the food.

Excellent - I've been there three times and haven't been disappointed yet. Food is not typical Mexican fare (lots of rice, refried beans, cheese), but instead has flavors of cilantro and lime - never overpowering like cilantro can be. Youngest child is a picky eater and couldn't find anything on the menu, but they accommodate her by taking chicken from one dish, not including the sauces/spices and adding potatos from another dish. She was pleased. Chips and salsa are delicious and plentiful. Drinks are good. I plan on going back.

I've been to Lilly's three times and I agree that the mexican food was not very good, but the Hamburger and the steak are definately worth the trip. The flavor was incredible, so when I want a great hamburger or steakm that is where I will go. I think that they had coconut gelato and it also was wonderful.

Recommended. Newtown has needed a mexican restaurant and this is the place. The drinks were good and the food was absolutely true to it's genre. The place has only been open for about 5 minutes, which explains the neg. reviews. If you know Lilly's other places, the quality and taste is there. The wait was not bad, certainly bearable and understandable. The service was that of a mexican restaurant in Newtown that just opened up. It will all fall into place. Probably by the time you have read this. I definitely would recommend this place.

Can you give it 0 stars. I had high hopes for this place and went there this past Friday evening with my wife and a friend. I was surprised at the high price of drinks but they were good, so we were ok with it. We sat down for dinner and ordered an app each and our meals. The waitress warned us that the kitchen was a little behind and I said that is ok - we are not in a rush. Well, a little behind turned into 45 minutes for our appetizers alone! We are talking about enchiladas, nachos and potato cake. 45 mins was outrageous but then the food was bland. Nachos didn't have enough cheese or flavor. The enchiladas were bland and the potato cake was just bland and a poor excuse for an appetizer. The complimentary chips and salsa were not even done right as the salsa just had too much cilantro. Now on to the meals. My wife's crab cake dish was bland and the other dishes only 2 things out of the 4 item sampler were even half decent. So disappointed. Other friends had a bad exp too.

Let me preface this review by saying that the three of us REALLY WANTED TO ENJOY this new Mexican place. Newtown has been in dire need of a GOOD Mexican restaurant. Lilly's Cocina Loca is DEFINITELY NOT IT. ASTONISHINGLY BLAND FOOD is the gravest offense here. Come on! We are talking about Mexican food! Bland is not an adjective I would ascribe to the cuisine. But this place managed to make it that way. And the service is beyond SLOW and very unprofessional. Now add a HEFTY PRICETAG to this simple cuisine and you have THREE STRIKES! Definitly will NOT BE RETURNING to this place. It's a shame. I'll continue to look out for a good Mexican restaurant in Newtown.
