Modern Machine & Tool Co., Inc. is well known to customers nationally and internationally in the aerospace, research and development, instrumentation, transportation and marine industries. Our capabilities range from sophisticated mechanical/electronic engineering and design to production machining of precision components. Founded in 1947 by Thomas C. Hodge, we've continuously added new technical skills and production capabilities to stay ahead of the rapid advances in materials, processes, and technologies that define today's industries. Today, our 53,000 sq. ft. engineering, manufacturing and calibration facility has more than 50 skilled professional and technical employees to meet our customer's most difficult technical challenges.

Modern Machine and Tool Company is a precision machine shop. We've used them several times to manufacture, calibrate, and repair wind tunnel balances. Balances in general are sensitive, precision made, quality pieces of instrumentation. We have also had other wind tunnel model parts manufactured by MM&T as well. When the part or instrument requires the utmost of precision or the tightest tollerance, this is really the only shop around that can meet that demand.
This company has problems with professional integrity. They quoted 8 hours on a job and went nearly 100% over that. .. without ever calling me. They weren't willing to work with me on the cost either. There are other more reputable machining companies in Newport News -- pick one.
