General Info

My ideal clients have survived abusive childhood homes, and have emerged into adolescence or adulthood with great coping skills, but at a price. I have found that they feel anxious or depressed despite their fundamental decency and great sense of responsibility. They work hard, but feel driven - nothing they do ever feels enough. They tell me they're successful, but can't reap the rewards of their success. Sometimes, they feel empty inside. Instead of friends, they carry caseloads. They want to make changes, but don't know how. Still, they're more courageous than they know. I have been working with adult survivors of trauma (alcoholic, physically, sexually, and emotionally abusive homes) for nearly 30 years. I see individuals, couples, and families. I also see individuals grappling with issues of later substance abuse recovery, as well as gay and lesbian clients. I am a solo practitioner and can provide greater individual attention to each client. My practice is located in the Oyster Point area of Newport News (the new downtown), three minutes from the interstate, and is located on the bus line. I take most insurances, including TRICARE.

Seems to run late quite a bit and seems to drag out each session without giving any good advise. He sometimes spends too much time talking about himself and talking over your head. He curses to get to your level, so he thinks, never knowing that I don't curse and find it too be rude and offensive.
