- Dental ExaminationOur dentists will develop a restoration plan for your teeth based on a digital CT scan and a professional dental examination. After you are completely satisfied with the suggested solutions we will begin the treatment. Let us give you the smile of your dreams!
- X-raysDental X-rays have come a long way when it comes to general dentistry. At The Newport Beach Dentist, we are equipped with the latest digital X-ray that is safer, faster, more comfortable and more informative than the traditional X-rays. Digital X-rays, one of the latest and most advanced dental technologies, produce high-quality images of your teeth that can be viewed instantly by you and us on a LCD monitor. Digital X-rays reduce radiation by up to 90% and provide exceptional diagnostic information to ensure that potential problems are caught in their earliest stages. Intraoral photography may be taken along your X-rays. With intraoral photography, problems such as cavities, fractures and discolorations in the teeth are captured through clear and sharp photographic images that are taken with a 35mm or digital camera. Contact us today to schedule an appointment.
- Oral Cancer ScreeningThere’s nothing to fear with a dental exam. When you visit our Newport Beach dentist your teeth will be visually examined by Dr. Haroonian and our team for signs of plaque, tartar and tooth decay. Your gums will also be examined for puffiness or discoloration, which are signs of gum disease. Dr. Haroonian will also check any bite or TMJ problem as well as an oral cancer screening. A full set of dental X-rays along with professional intraoral images may also be taken during your dental exam, to enable us to see below the surfaces of your teeth. Dental exams typically end with a dental cleaning, to remove stains and buildup.
- Teeth CleaningA laser teeth cleaning, also known as an ultrasonic cleaning, is a popular alternative to traditional teeth cleanings. With a laser teeth cleaning, an ultrasonic scaler (rather than a manual probe) is used to remove deposits, kill harmful microbes and eliminate bacteria around the teeth and gums through high-frequency sound waves. techniques Many of our patients find laser teeth cleanings more comfortable than traditional teeth cleanings because they are quicker, quieter and pain-free.

- FillingsWhite fillings are made of composited resin and they are just as durable as they are attractive! white fillings match the natural color of your teeth and are an excellent option for small to mid-sized cavities. White fillings are strong, stain-resistant and require less removal of your tooth structure than amalgam fillings. If your silver fillings make you feel self-conscious when you smile, or it’s simply time to replace them, consider white fillings.
- VeneersVeneers are an ideal cosmetic solution for everyone who desires a beautiful smile with minimal invasions into their teeth.
- CrownsAlthough dental crowns can be made of a variety of materials, including stainless steel, gold and silver, nothing is healthier and looks better than a porcelain dental crown. Porcelain dental crowns match the natural color of your teeth and are virtually undetectable by the naked eye. And because they’re metal-free, porcelain dental crowns are an excellent option for patients with metal allergies. Best of all, porcelain crowns don’t just look beautiful – they’re long-lasting, and gum friendly too!
- BridgesDental bridges have been used for centuries to replace missing teeth. Today, dental bridges are still considered one of the most durable, conservative and cost-effective dental treatment options for bridging the gap between a missing tooth and surrounding teeth. Comprised of two anchoring teeth and a replacement tooth, dental bridges help prevent surrounding teeth from drifting out of position, improve chewing and speaking, and help keep your natural face shape in fact.
- Dental BondingDo minor imperfections detract from your beautiful smile? Dr. Haroonian can help with composite dental bonding, to instantly enhance your appearance with this cosmetic dental treatment. Using a material that’s similar to what we use for white fillings, dental bonding adheres to the microscopic pores in your tooth enamel. With just a little gentle etching, your tooth is prepped and your cosmetic treatment can be applied. A special bright light is used to cure the bonding material, securely fusing it to your tooth.
- Restorative DentistryHe has made the Dean’s honor list during graduate school at USC. Dr. Haroonian has continued his close association with the USC as an active member of the faculty. He has received advanced training in implant dentistry, cosmetic, restorative dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, orthodontics and full mouth reconstruction.
- Root Canal TreatmentRoot canals get a bad wrap. But don’t believe the rumors – the dreaded root canal isn’t dreadful at all! Root canals are needed when either decay or an injury infects the inner tooth (the pulp) and begins to destroy the tooth from the inside out. In the earliest stages of infection, you may not feel any pain at all. But when it progresses, you could experience a toothache and swelling, and a dental abscess might form. Without prompt dental care treatment, the infection can spread to nearby teeth, putting your health at risk. Symptoms of tooth infection include...
- Gingivectomy and GingivoplastyLaser gum surgery, a new alternative to scaling and root planning, uses beams of high-speed light to remove plaque and tartar buildup. If non-surgical methods of gum disease treatment are ineffective, a gingivectomy, or periodontal surgery, may be necessary.
- Periodontal Surgery
- Deep CleaningA deep cleaning may be recommended if excessive plaque and tartar deposits have developed below the gum line. Deep cleanings, also known as scaling and root planing, involve a two-part process: first, the stubborn deposits are removed, and then the root surfaces are smoothed. A deep cleaning helps prevent periodontal disease and restores gum tissues to a healthy state.
- DenturesUsing dentures to replace missing teeth is not only great for your oral health; it’s a great way to look and feel younger! Today, there are a variety of natural-looking and comfortable dentures for patients who need to replace missing teeth. Made of a gum-colored plastic resin or acrylic base and either resin or porcelain replacement teeth, dentures are custom designed to fit your mouth. The process of receiving dental care to get dentures may take a few months and several dental visits. In some cases, however, same-day dentures are also possible. With same-day dentures, the dentures are created right in the dentist’s office instead of at an offsite laboratory. Same-day dentures aren’t for everyone, though. If your dentures require a lot of customization, same-day dentures may not be right for you.

- Oral SurgeryOral surgery is an umbrella term for surgical treatments such as dental implants, wisdom teeth extractions and bone grafting. Dental implants, an excellent solution for missing teeth, are surgically placed tooth roots that hold dental crowns in place. A wisdom tooth extraction may be recommended if there isn’t enough room in your mouth to accommodate wisdom teeth and they become impacted, partially erupted or infected. Bone grafting transfers bone from one part of the jaw to another, usually to accommodate a dental implant. While a general dentist can perform some oral surgery procedures, an oral surgeon is required for others.
- Gum Surgery
- Tooth ExtractionsAs with tooth extractions, we can remove your wisdom teeth in the comfort and convenience of our own office. We provide several sedation options to ensure you feel relaxed and comfortable for your wisdom teeth surgery. After your procedure, we’ll give you several instructions for post-surgery care, to help with your recovery.
- Bone GraftingOne method is replacing missing teeth by replacing each tooth that is missing with one dental implant or using as many dental implants as we can accommodate in the bone left. This method usually needs bone grafting (like sinus lift on the upper jaw or block bone grafts...) to create enough bone to support the implants and the teeth on them. This method may take 3-4 months at least to developed bone and then implants are placed in the new bone and usually wait about 4-6 more months to start the prosthetic part (teeth or the final crowns and bridges). As you see it takes at least about 8 months to get the final prosthesis done. This method is good in localized tooth losses when there are one or more teeth left and the advantage of it is that we create more bone for the patient and it is a way to go for some patients that are edentulous (toothless). - OrthodonticsWith the complete alignment of the roots of the teeth, retention is needed every day for only 15-20 minutes (“Tooth Shampoo”.) Some people like wearing the retainers at night (“Teeth pajamas”). No more retainers for hours during the day for months after treatment. This is yet another reason why Fastbraces® Technology is changing the way orthodontics is done altogether.
- BracesTeeth are sometimes in an irregular position since their outgrowth and sometimes they move later in life. With clear braces we can treat various orthodontic irregularities and archive a beautiful smile without the discomfort from having metal on your teeth.
- Teeth WhiteningEach tray is worn for 2-4 weeks before moving on to the next tray, to slowly encourage your teeth into the correct position. For some patients, that process can be completed in as few as 6 months! If you’d like to enjoy a more dramatic smile transformation, we also offer several teeth whitening options.
