• Oral Cancer Screening
  There’s nothing to fear with a dental exam. When you visit our Newport Beach dentist your teeth will be visually examined by Dr. Haroonian and our team for signs of plaque, tartar and tooth decay. Your gums will also be examined for puffiness or discoloration, which are signs of gum disease. Dr. Haroonian will also check any bite or TMJ problem as well as an oral cancer screening. A full set of dental X-rays along with professional intraoral images may also be taken during your dental exam, to enable us to see below the surfaces of your teeth. Dental exams typically end with a dental cleaning, to remove stains and buildup.

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

• Oral Surgery
  Oral surgery is an umbrella term for surgical treatments such as dental implants, wisdom teeth extractions and bone grafting. Dental implants, an excellent solution for missing teeth, are surgically placed tooth roots that hold dental crowns in place. A wisdom tooth extraction may be recommended if there isn’t enough room in your mouth to accommodate wisdom teeth and they become impacted, partially erupted or infected. Bone grafting transfers bone from one part of the jaw to another, usually to accommodate a dental implant. While a general dentist can perform some oral surgery procedures, an oral surgeon is required for others.
• Gum Surgery
• Tooth Extractions
  As with tooth extractions, we can remove your wisdom teeth in the comfort and convenience of our own office. We provide several sedation options to ensure you feel relaxed and comfortable for your wisdom teeth surgery. After your procedure, we’ll give you several instructions for post-surgery care, to help with your recovery.
• Bone Grafting
  One method is replacing missing teeth by replacing each tooth that is missing with one dental implant or using as many dental implants as we can accommodate in the bone left. This method usually needs bone grafting (like sinus lift on the upper jaw or block bone grafts...) to create enough bone to support the implants and the teeth on them. This method may take 3-4 months at least to developed bone and then implants are placed in the new bone and usually wait about 4-6 more months to start the prosthetic part (teeth or the final crowns and bridges). As you see it takes at least about 8 months to get the final prosthesis done. This method is good in localized tooth losses when there are one or more teeth left and the advantage of it is that we create more bone for the patient and it is a way to go for some patients that are edentulous (toothless).
