The Newport Beach General Services Department is comprised of nearly 10 divisions, one of which is unmanned. These divisions include administration, field maintenance, operations support, refuse, parks maintenance, street trees, equipment maintenance and equipment replacement. All the divisions are funded from general fund revenues, with the exception of the equipment maintenance and replacement divisions. Those two divisions are funded from revenues paid into the internal service fund for equipment maintenance and replacement by departments that use vehicles and equipment. Departments are assessed a monthly rate for each piece of equipment utilized. This assessment pays for the maintenance and ultimate replacement of the equipment.
