Founded in 1873, the City of Newberry Fire Department works to preserve and protect lives and property of citizens and visitors through various fire suppression and prevention, advanced life support, and search and rescue services. It is comprised of more than 20 paid and over 25 volunteer members. The department provides community services that include teaching students about fire prevention and safety. The City of Newberry Fire Department also operates a training division that conducts classes in interior structural firefighting, confined spaces rescue, hazardous materials incident mitigation and fire inspection. It is owned and operated by the city of Newberry, S.C.
