The Upper Manhattan Mental Health Center, also known as the Emma L. Bowen Community Center, is a nonprofit organization that provides health care and community services. It employs a staff of more than 150 people that includes psychiatrists, psychologists, nurse practitioners, social workers, vocational rehabilitation counselors and case managers. Established in 1986, the center is licensed by the state of New York, Office of Mental Health, Office of Alcoholism & Substance Abuse Services and the Department of Health. Located in New York City, Upper Manhattan Mental Health Center operates a spectrum of outpatient and day treatment programs for children, adolescents, adults and senior citizens. Additionally, it offers help in preparing for a career and learning the job-related skills.
