Established in 1917, Teachers Retirement System of the City of New York is one of the largest pension systems operating in the United States, with more than $30 billion in assets. The system provides eligible New York City educators with retirement, disability and death benefits. It offers a wide range of services, such as service retirement allowances, tax-deferred annuity participation, loans, disability coverage, and death benefits. Its TDA program provides long-term investment plans, and opportunities to invest funds in a combination of its investment programs, including fixed, variable, and annuity programs. The center also offers various loans available under its qualified pension plan and TDA program. It additionally provides educational programs designed to help members understand the retirement process, benefits and services offered, and the TDA program. Located in New York City, the center provides benefit estimation services and personal account statements to its clients.

The site is very easy to use and the employees are very helpful. I Yes, there may be a hold on the phone but one needs to understand that there are a lot of members with questions that need to be answered.

One of the most opaque, obtuse administrative entity I have encountered. Benefit Examiner does not bother to read item in the dossier, keeps send the same form letter. No e-mail really! Imagine having to deal with them from an overseas location.

The worst! Cannot email or fax. Nowhere on the site is a link for email correspondence or a fax number for forms or other information. This institution holds MILLIONS of dollars in teachers savings, yet to communicate with them you have to wait 10 minutes!!!! Fix the educational system by surrounding it with professionalism and you'll see a change. Keep it the way it is and continue to see mediocrity from its members and those who do business with them.
