Through an affiliated holding company, Patina Restaurant Group also controls the Smith & Wollensky steakhouse chain with about 10 locations around the United States. Founded in 2006, the company is backed by Tokyo-based Shidax Corporation. It is the recipient of several awards, including national recognition from Zagat Surveys, The Wine Spectator, James Beard Society, and Bon Appetit's coveted "Restaurateur of the Year".
