Based in New York City, MTA Metro-North Railroad provides more than 250,000 customer trips each weekday and over 73 million trips annually. A subsidiary of New York State's Metropolitan Transportation Authority, Metro-North Railroad was founded in 1983. It operates on more than 380 route miles and over 770 miles of track and offers discount ticket packages. The railroad serves more than 120 stations in over five counties, including Dutchess, Putnam, Westchester, Bronx, New York, Rockland and Orange, N.Y., and New Haven and Fairfield, Conn. MTA Metro-North Railroad s service territory includes more than 2,701 miles of area. Metropolitan Transportation Authority is a public-benefit corporation that offers public transportation services by various modes of transportation, including subways, buses and commuter trains.
