Makoto Iwahara, M.D. is board certified in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine. He received his undergraduate degree from Brown University and his M.D. from SUNY Upstate Medical University. Dr. Iwahara completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Rochester General Hospital at the University of Rochester and his fellowship in Gastroenterology at Genesee Hospital at the University of Rochester. Currently, Dr. Iwahara is an Attending Physician at Lenox Hill Hospital, where he is actively involved in teaching. In addition, he is a Visiting Attending Physician at Mount Sinai Medical Center. Dr. Iwahara is a member of several medical societies, including the American College of Physicians and the American College of Gastroenterology, and currently serves as the President of the Japanese Medical Society of America.

He was very thorough in his consultation and pre procedure briefing and very flexible in accommodating my schedule. Very clear communication in informing me of the procedure and results.

A professional experience

Leading up to the experience I was somewhat worried not fully knowing what to expect, but both of the staff and doctor treated me with complete respect and maintain the level of professionalism that provided the comfort I needed to relax and get through the procedure

Great, start to finish!

Friendly staff, put me at ease.
Dr. Iwahara is the best and very trustworthy. This is my 3rd colonoscopy with him, over 20 years. Simply the best there is!
