In May 2013 it was announced that some 10 teachers and the Director of the school and lower school Director would leave the school - after it was too late for parents to switch schools. Unfortunately this turnover happens every few years - and school gives excuse that it cannot extend teacher visas...but truth is teachers do not want to stay due to poor organization, lack of resources and support and low pay. For a small school, such turnover is huge and disruptive for parents and children! Worse, for a yr 2012-2013 if not more the children hardly did not go outside for recess due to "construction on roof" and school did not arrange alternative solution despite pleas of parents throughout the year. Only provided excuses and a dark stuffy gym without windows for children for recess. We have now heard that our kids will most likely NEVER go to an outside to a park the 2013-2014 academic yr due to low teacher/student ratios. Entire classes do not go outside and breathe fresh air at all for days at a time while at school from 830 to 330 - including kindergarten. Kindergarten has 4 days of school since beginning of year and class did not go outside too get fresh air once. 5 year olds have been in classrooms all day…Even adults want fresh air on their lunch hour to breath and refocus...Academic standards are extremely poor and well below par for American schools. Check the school's scores on standard tests...LK marketed itself to prospective parents as getting "the best of French and Am curricula" - but after many years in the school, we know this is not true. Low standards and performance of students on national tests always excused because LK is a "bilingual school". The for profit Board does not seem to care about the well-being or development of students. It’s about making money. Classrooms have no equipment, smartboards. Many families are leaving. Take a tour you will see yourself, ask the classroom teachers how many times did the children go outside that week - to recess on the roof - or to the playground park a 5 min walk away in a given month. Also ask questions of a number of current parents before you decide to come here, not just those presented at the school orientation for prospective parents. We regret that we did not
