The Dormitory Authority of the State of New York provides financing and construction services to public and private universities, as well as nonprofit health care facilities. As a public benefit corporation, the authority serves the citizens of New York State. Founded in 1944, it builds facilities for health care providers and public agencies. The authority assists customer by reviewing documents for the ease of construction, code compliance and life safety issues. It views architectural drawings, prepares cost estimates and evaluates furniture budgets. The Dormitory Authority of the State of New York issues tax-exempt securities. Its clients include Metropolitan Museum of Art, Siena College, and New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation. The authority has a communications and marketing unit that is responsible for communications with construction vendors and contractors.
