The Committee of Interns and Residents is a more than 11,000-member union representing doctors and doctors-in-training in various states throughout the United States, including California, Florida, Massachusetts, New Jersey and New York. Founded in 1957, the union deals with issues, such as salaries, working conditions and quality of patient care. It is affiliated with the Service Employees International Union, which includes over 900,000 health care workers. The union also conducts workshops that focus on the latest reforms in the health care industry. In addition, it publishes a quarterly publication, CIR News, that carries information on the services and programs of various medical centers. Committee of Interns and Residents is located in New York City.
