  Lindsey Gauzza is a partner with the firm. Before joining the Law Office of Cheryl David, Ms. Gauzza clerked for two years at the New York Immigration Court through the Attorney General’s Honors Program. She graduated from Temple University School of Law in 2009, where she served as a Senior Production Editor for the Temple Political and Civil Rights Law Review. During law school, Ms. Gauzza interned at the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society in Philadelphia as well as the New York Immigration Court. Ms. Gauzza previously worked as a paralegal in a small immigration and criminal defense law firm in Philadelphia.

  Cheryl R. David has been practicing immigration law since 1995. Born and raised in Queens, N.Y., she comes from a diverse background. Her mother was a teacher in an elementary school in the South Bronx and taught English as a Second Language to new immigrants in the evening. Her mom always wanted her to be an immigration lawyer. Due to her mom’s urging and growing up in Queens, she was exposed to various cultures and nationalities.Her first job was working for a small firm in Jackson Heights, Queens and was grateful for the job, she vowed to be the best immigration lawyer she could be. While working for Bretz & Coven, LLP, she became involved in the American Immigration Lawyers Association. Ms. David served on various local committees and ultimately became Chair of the New York chapter in 2006. Subsequently, she chaired the local committee of Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) in NY from 2007-2009. The position inspired her to become more involved on a national level. From 2007-10 she was Chair of the national liaison committee with ICE on behalf of AILA. At the same time, she was elected to the national Board of Governors for AILA and remained on the Board until 2012. Subsequent to her position as Chair of ICE, she became national chair of the Executive Office for Immigration Review from 2010-2012 on behalf of AILA. In addition, to her work with AILA, she served on the New York City Bar Fund from 2007-2013. She currently in on the immigration committee for the Federal Bar Association and is a Board member on “ASISTA”, an organization which centralize assistance for advocates and attorneys facing complex legal problems in advocating for immigrant survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault
• Extortion
  "My case was not an easy one. Attorney David's firm helped my family's American Dream become a reality. My parents' political asylum had been denied and they received several notices to leave the US through the years. This decision, we felt, was irrational since my parents had more than enough evidence that they had been victims of extortion in our native country. We reached out to Cheryl David when my mother was detained (arrested) by immigration officers immediately after a scheduled appointment she had with the USCIS. My mother was then taken to different facilities throughout the northeast in a matter of 3-4 days with no explanation while, at the same time, Cheryl was building a strong appeal to have my mother released. My mother was released on day 7 after being detained and shortly after was given the chance to appear in another scheduled appointment to receive her green card. We still don't know how she made this possible; it's truly remarkable.
