The Center for Appellate Litigation is a New York-based nonprofit law firm that handles appeals and post-conviction proceedings on behalf of criminal defendants in the cases assigned to it by the Appellate Division, First Department. Its attorneys assist clients by pursuing preliminary or collateral relief in the trial court, visiting clients at correctional facilities, requesting trial attorney input, arranging for an investigation, obtaining trial exhibits and making Court of Appeals leave applications. The Center for Appellate Litigation publishes online newsletters and also offers pro bono services. It maintains a location in New York City.
