Othmar Ammann and Charles Whitney founded Ammann & Whitney in 1946 as a full-service engineering practice. Ammann & Whitney provides structural, civil, architectural, mechanical and electrical engineering, as well as construction inspection services for projects, including bridges, highways, airports, transit stations, schools, government/military installations and other types of facilities and buildings. In addition, the firm has developed an expertise in the highly specialized fields of engineering for blast resistant/hardened facilities, historic structures and monuments and special cable supported structures. Some of its accomplishments have included Lincoln Center, TWA Terminal in the JFK International Airport, Washington Metro and the Mitchell Park Conservatory in Milwaukee, Wis. Headquartered in New York City, with six regional offices along the East Coast, the firm serves public and private sector clients who require structural and other engineering, as well as architectural and construction support services.
