Founded in 1925, AMIT is a nongovernmental organization that provides religious Zionist education and social services for Israel's children and youths. It operates more than 70 schools, surrogate homes and child care facilities, and serves over 20,000 children of impoverished and dysfunctional families. The organization offers religious instructions and technological training programs. Its boutique offers a variety of books, cards, certificates and specialty items. The organization, with a location in New York City, operates council offices in Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Cleveland, Los Angeles, Philadelphia and San Francisco. AMIT also partners with the Jewish Telegraphic Agency and offers information about the Jewish world.
