Brown County Evaluation Center, located in New Ulm, Minn., houses the Minnesota River Valley Juvenile Detention Center and detoxification center. Minnesota River Valley Juvenile Detention center provides services for predispositional youth between 10- to 21-years old. Licensed by the Department of Corrections, the center features six beds for temporary holdovers and long-term detention individuals, and two internal segregation cells with dayroom. It also offers chemical dependency and psychological evaluations, drug screening and indoor and outdoor gymnasiums. The center provides education through the local school district and summer education programming through its juvenile detention center. The detoxification center provides observation, evaluation, diagnosis, care and treatments for individuals up to 13-years. It is licensed by the Department of Human Services and Department of Health, and employs certified chemical dependency counselors.
