I never forget the awful days i spent at Orchard Ridge Care and Rehab Center after my hip replacement. The food was terrible; nothing fresh, no salad, vegetables or fruit; everything was grey mush. even the "scrambled eggs" for breakfast were made from powder. when the nurse distributed medication, I asked for a pain pill but was told i had to wait. an hour later i had bitten my fingernails off with pain. the day i was admitted, a woman spent an hour with me asking about my financial situation, but for the actual rehab i had to wait two days. we were three in one small room. one patient had appropriated the TV remote and watched TV til 2 a.m. there was no etiquette about silence at night. it didn't matter anyway. one woman usually started screaming around 2 a.m. and nobody could silence her. the staff was indifferent and uncaring. i was lucky to be able and check out after a few days, but i truly pity anyone who has no other resource than staying in this awful place.
