Located in New Market, Md., Deer Crossing Elementary educates students in grades kindergarten through five. It consists of several departments, such as music, special education, arts, guidance, health and targeted intervention. Its facility includes a gymnasium, computer lab, media center and cafeteria. The school also operates a weather station that uses an automated weather source watch system. Its sensor suite monitors wind speed and direction, temperature, relative humidity, rainfall, barometric pressure and light. Its master control unit consists of the Internet communication port and processes and stores weather data. The school s library offers newspapers, magazines, research material and audiovideo equipment. Additionally, Deer Crossing Elementary operates a parent-teacher association that sponsors various events and projects.
