Livable City Initiative s mission is to remove blighted buildings from the city's neighborhoods, reduce neighborhood density, promote homeownership by introducing new loan programs and prevent the spread of blight by education, public awareness and engaging public input. The initiative is organized into a number of divisions. The administrative services division provides financial assistance to low- and moderate-income and prospective residents. The neighborhood services division identifies and disposes of blighted properties. The property division has responsibility for the city's acquisition and disposition of real estate and related activities, such as relocation, demolition, leasing and marketing of property. The building division enforces building codes and ensures that properties are safe. The responsibilities of the code enforcement division include the enforcement of housing codes and zoning ordinances. The legal division provides the legal resources necessary for the other LCI divisions to do its jobs. Livable City Initiative is located in New Haven, Conn.
