The Laurel School District, with its office located in New Castle, Pa., operates under a superintendent and an elected school education governing board. It administers a district comprising of two schools, Laurel Elementary School and Laurel Junior-Senior High School. Its schools together offer classes from grades kindergarten through 12 and enroll more than 1,500 students. The courses follow the requirements of the state education board and core subjects include English language arts, science, computer studies, social science and mathematics. It governs activities relating to education services, business and finance, and buildings and grounds of the schools in the district. The Laurel School District encourages its schools to offer a wide range of extracurricular activities, including sports, such as football, softball, basketball and volleyball.
