In 1985, Ellwood Quality Steels commissioned its melt shop to be one of the leading producers of steel ingots. As a subsidiary of the Ellwood Group, it is a supplier of carbon, alloy, stainless and tool steel ingots for open die forging, extrusion and ring rolling. Additionally, the company can service special applications for producers of closed die forgings as well as bar and plate products. There are two styles of ingots produced by EQS, cylindrical ingots and tapered big end up ingots. The company's cylindrical ingots have little or no taper along their length and are available from 10 to 50 inches in diameter. Tapered big end up ingots are designed for solidification to ensure steel cleanliness. Both ingots are manufactured at Ellwood Quality Steels facility in New Castle, Pa.
