Indianapolis eye doctors since 1940 and now with eye doctors across the state at our 20 locations, Dr. Tavel Family Eye Care provides glasses, contact lens, eye exams, and eye wear to thousands of Hoosiers each year. We have a unique history in that we have been family and doctor owned since our beginning and are still medically focused as a company, offering complete eye care to every patient with customer service being at the heart of what we do. My eye exam went well and I felt very positive about my overall experience. I was given trial contacts to wear and a followup appointment to have them checked. They said they would text me about my appointment, but I wrote it down for my own schedule. I never received a text and when I went in they had me scheduled on a different day than I was told originally. I rescheduled and this time when I went in the Dr. wasn't there that day. I had such difficulty getting a followup appointment and I needed new contacts. I went to 800contacts to order, but they would not approve my contact order until I went in for a followup. I finally gave up and went to a different Dr. I had to pay for another eye exam, but I now have new contacts. I feel there is a lack of professionalism in the Dr. office.
Dr. Tavel in New Castle is the worst place ever to get glasses! I have insurance. I picked out glasses they wrote it up and said that will be $202. I said ok and paid it. Then they said, "They will be in in two weeks." Its now been three weeks and they still don't have them in. I understand they cant be made in an hour but a place as well known as that should figure out how to get them to the customer in less than 3 weeks. I think its ridiculous! Negative star rating!
