Central Connecticut Association for Retarded Citizens, also known as CCARC, is a nonprofit organization offering a wide range of health care and behavioral services to its participants. Founded in 1952, the association s behavioral services include preparation of behavior modification programs to replace maladaptive behaviors with effective coping strategies. Its behaviorist also consults with psychiatrists in the community to ensure that interventions to correct problem behaviors are well coordinated. The association provides day services for individuals with mental disabilities and other disorders. It operates more than five community-based homes and supported living apartments for individuals with mental disorders who are above 18 years of age in the central Connecticut area. Central Connecticut Association for Retarded Citizens is located in New Britain, Conn.
