I called to inquire about contacts. Confirmed that I never wore them and hadn't seen an optometrist/opthamologist for 15 months. Was quoted '$99 for an office visit and $199 if you want contacts.' I made an appt for contacts. During the visit I was asked if I had insurance. I do & vision correction isn't covered. I was told that 'there are ways we can bill it to get it to go through.' I was also told that there was a $25 charge for a refraction test. That brings the total to $224. They told me they would bill insurance first and if rejected, they would bill my credit card for the amount of $224. They immediately billed $110 to Medicare for an eye exam (that's fraud, folks) & $224 to my card. I subsequently began receiving bills from their office for $22 that Medicare did not cover. At no time did anyone inform me that their quote did NOT include an eye exam, which is clearly evidenced by the fact that they submitted $224 to my credit card, on the spot. Bottom line is that I was quoted $199 over the phone, was told $224 upon arrival @ the office and 3 months later have just learned that the total billed is $334.
