We stumbled on this restaurant on our way to a concert in New Bedford. It was a real treat. Excellent food. Although there was a special event going on in the restaurant that night, our service was excellent. I had the Sea Bass special and it was the whole thing and cooked to perfection. My companion had Camarao a Alhinho (garlic shrimp) appetizer with some rice as a main course. She claims it was the best shrimp she has ever had. Now we get to dessert. She had the Pudim da Casa and I had the Bolo de Queijo Frito (fried cheesecake - I know - but I had to try it). Separate they we were pretty good but take a spoonful of the pudding and add some of the cheesecake - heaven. We plan to return again soon.

I have eaten there twice. The first time, I had the bacalhao a narciso, which was excellent. The second time, I asked for the same and it was not available. The manager suggested garoupa grelhada, which blew me away. I can't wait to go back and have it again. Friends who have had the shrimp mozambique tell me it is excellent.

This is my favorite Portuguese restaurant. The food is excellent, the service is just as good. They sometimes have Portuguese singers, such as Fernando Santana (my personal favorite) who come in directly from Portugal and put on a very enjoyable show.
