the best thing to ever happen to needham. this restaurant/bar is a bit of urban chic in suburban hell. the bar staff is hilarious and a seat at the bar is the best vantage point for all the Desperate Housewives-esque drama that goes on in this formerly sleepy 'burb. the food is absolutely fantastic (my fav is the filet with potato croquette and the summer salad...and the specials are always spectacular) and the wine list is rather good. the service is as sparkling and attentive when I dine alone as when I am in a party of 10. blue is a very well run establishment and it's a JOY to finally have a little oasis in needham.
Just had my wife's birthday party here. With 15 people, it came off perfectly! First, the service: appropriately attentive and pleasant. Our waitress was equally patient with my 8 month old grandson, as well as a few of the elderly, hearing impaired folks. When entrees came, 5 waitestaff appeared to serve them, so there would be no waiting! And the food: appetizers included great fried calamari, yummy Maryland crabcakes, buscetta with buffalo mozzarella, tomato, and balsamic vinegar. For entrees, people are still talking about the double thick pork chops, the lobster ravioli, and the cajun spiced mahi mahi. Prices are reasonable: most entrees are less than $20. While still at the restaurant, people in our party were talking about when they could get back here. This is definitely a great find.
