The increased pressure prevents the collapse of the airway, restoring normal sleep in many cases. BIPAP BIPAP, like CPAP, uses patient specific pressures, provided by an airflow generator to keep the airway open. BIPAP uses an inspiratory pressure and a slightly lower expiratory pressure to assist the client in exhalation. BIPAP is usually ordered by a physician for patients with higher CPAP pressures. BIPAP ST BIPAP ST devices are used to treat individuals that have a Sleep disorder condition consistent with both obstructive and central sleep apnea. In addition to the inspiratory and expiratory pressures, the ST model can be set to deliver a breath to the individual if the device does not sense an inspiratory effort after a set time period. After the client’s sleep study, the physician will closely review the results and see if this modality of treatment is warranted. Humidification devices for the above equipment.
