My son and I wandered in after several times through town admiring the giant 'alpaca' sign on the main drag. Lots of cool stuff, wanted to buy an alpaca blanket, but didn't have room in our carry on bags to bring back to CT. The owner recommended alpaca socks...these things blow wool socks away ! Best you can get these days are 50% wool.... these are 100% alpaca. Went ATV riding with friends last week in CT (2nd week in December) got my feet soaking wet.....feet were nice and warm. Anything else on my feet and I would've got frostbite. Next time out to CO I'm bringing some empty luggage with me :) Kinda $$, but these are specialty items you can't get at your local Walmart (p.s. I hate Walmart). Owner was super nice !!!!!!

Saw a big sign for the store when leaving the fabled Carousel of Happiness. Was a bit curious and although it was not located with all the other stores in a shopping district, we headed up the hill to check it out...what a good decision!!! The merchandise is beautiful but, even better, the owner, Roy, welcomed us like neighbors. He entertained us with iPhone home videos of a new baby alpaca taking its first steps and answered questions about what to do around Nederland. He didn't stop there, instead of giving complicated directions to a destination, he offered to drive with us so that we found it!!! We took him up on his offer and got a wonderful history of the area and personal tour of his adopted town. Along with my alpaca earned, we came away from this store with a wonderful memory of a fantastic guy! Shop here and keep him in business- the world needs more successful Roy's!!
