WRIU is a nonprofit radio station operated by the University of Rhode Island. It operates at a radio frequency of 90.3 FM from Kingston, R.I. The station covers most of Rhode Island, and parts of Connecticut, Long Island and Massachusetts. WRIU is funded both by the university student senate and donations from listeners. The station is open to participation by both students and community members. It airs music, news reports and traffic updates. WRIU broadcasts several programs, such as Major Armstrong s Revenge, Voices of Women, Blade Connex Radio, World Wide Waves, Sports Wrap and Kind Sounds. It also organizes a range of contests for its listeners.
