About Owner The Wine Sampler is a Family-Owned business serving Wilmington, Wrightsville Beach and surrounding areas. I'm Pious Choi, Wine Manager, and I have over a dozen years of wine experience to share with you. I can remember my first exposure to wine education; staff training with Cakebread Winery at the Sanderling Inn and Resort, Duck NC in summer of '93. After graduation at James Madison University, I moved to Colorado to discover myself. Oh yeah, and ski. That is where I was seriously bit by the "wine bug." Believe it or not, I traded skiing in Summit County 80 days a years and a great job at the "Top of World" Restaurant to move to Washington, DC. What would possibly drive a person from the slopes of the Rockies to inside the 495 Beltway? A wine job in one of the greatest restaurant cities in the World. For the last 9 years, I have been employed as a Fine Wine Representative and Sales Manager for several wine distributors and distinct product portfolios. It is an amazing experience working closely with nationally recognized restaurants and wine shops; consulting wine lists and retail wine selections. Education is always a priority of mine, and I travel to wine country several times a year. I would love to share stories and trade notes from wine trips.
