The Cheese Steak Shop Franchise Corporation, in business since 1982, began franchising in 2002. For more than 20 years, the Cheese Steak Shop has held true to the "original Philadelphia style sandwich" that has pleased Philadelphians for generations and now Californians for the last two decades. Ingredients are special ordered from the East to create the authentic and delicious cheese steak. Specialty items such as Tastykakes are also brought in to recreate the "back home" ambiance. The menu also features the Italian Hoagie, "banquet on a bun" and two vegetarian sandwiches, as well as a choice of 100 percent breast meat chicken for all the steak sandwich varieties. The Cheese Steak Shop Franchise Corporation maintains a location in Hercules, Calif.
