Pocono Medical Center has come a long way. I have taken my mom to Dr Gandotra for a while now and he is one of the first doctors that I have met that I felt I could trust and knew he wanted only the best for her and was dedicated to taking care of her. He has gone above and beyond for her. He is a very nice and caring young man and his office staff is excellent as well. His nurse Joan was the kindest little lady I have ever met and so sweet.
I had read the second review and wanted to comment on it.way too many ppl go to the ER when a trip to a GP would solve the problem. This not only puts a strain on the medical system it also puts other patients at risk. The secret here is: 1st see your GP if it can't wait than go to the ER. 2nd, have your GP call the hopital ER dept and tell them you are coming. This cuts down on the waiting time. As for paperwork and payment info, all hospitals do this not just PMC and yes unless you are dying they do this first. As for a dept. telling a patient an employer was fired, they can be in a heap of legal problems. I believe the poster is assuming this fact.Way too many ppl go to the ER due to lack of insurance, Your GP does accept credit cards, cash and checks. Most of them in this area also will accept payment plans. I know, I am a self pay with disabilities. I am not a huge fan of PMC I do feel that they need to expand to attract the better doctors to this area.
Everyone at this hospital was rude. They get your payment information before you see a doctor. The doctor I saw there, raised his voice at me and was very rude. He prescribed me heartburn medication for an allergic reaction, and then proceeded to tell me, steroid treatments like Prednisone would give me cataracts. Later that day I had to spend more money to go to another doctor's office to receive the proper treatment for my allergic reaction. I then contacted several weeks later to dispute the bill and I spoke to a woman, who never contacted me back. I then called back and found out she had been fired and no one had followed up on her cases. I then received a call from her replacement, which did not have any information. She made me explain the entire story again and then proceeded to tell me, I still had to pay the bill, she then hung up on me. I have been patient with these people and courteous when explaining my situation. They have been rude and unprofessional at every turn.
After 6 years in the area (and way too many trips to the hospital,) I can honestly say that I have only had one problem with Pocono Medical Center, and that was because the symptoms I was having were hiding the real problem but I did get a call back and was admitted 2 days later. As long as you have the right doctor Pocono is a good place. The doctors and nurse's really do care and are interested in you and what's wrong with you, They are extremely professional and try there best to treat you with curtesy, professionalism, and respect. and now that they have added a trauma center and done massive renovations to all of the floors in all of the building they are even better. I would highly recommend this hospital.
